What a great place to stay! We took my parents and our kids and grand kids. There was a place for everyone and plenty of family space. The beach was easy to get to and the location was great.
Aside from being a truly lovely home, it's proximity to the ocean and beach offers a TON to see and do. We saw whales through the huge glass windows in the kitchen, the 5 min. walk to the beach was a tremendous favorite for our golden retriever, and us -- we saw sea lions pop their heads out of the surf and enjoyed looking at the multitude of sea creatures left in the tide pools between high-tides. All in all, a vacation worth every cent!
First time renting a house, great experience! Short walk to beautiful beach, my only complaint is time went by too fast!!!
The house was beyond my expectations. Plenty of room, beautiful view, access to beach and the use of everything a home would provide. The cost was affordable for us.
Our stay was for a quick weekend trip. We found the house to be suitable for our needs. All details were attended to and plenty of room for all. It was a nice affordable rental.
This was our first time visiting the Oregon Coast and we feel so blessed that we were able to do so, with our family, in such a wonderful place. The house was absolutely perfect for our needs. We appreciated the walk-through that we got at check-in. All of our questions were answered and we received valuable information to help us utilize all the amenities of the home. The home was spacious and clean. We loved how close we were to the beach and the HWY. We were able to enjoy Yachats and many attractions nearby. The house was stocked with everything we needed to eat, sleep and relax. And, even though I was not able to enjoy it, my in-laws loved relaxing in the hot tub. I highly recommend this home for families and would love to return.
We spent a week at Shell Haven in 2012 with family and friends, and enjoyed it so much that we returned this year for a longer stay which was even more enjoyable. Sweet Homes folks are very friendly, efficient, and easy to deal with, and the property is on a quiet, well-kept street with a view of the Yachats River, the village beyond, and the ocean. It is quiet, clean, well-equipped, and ideal for either good or inclement weather. The outdoor hot tub has a 4-poster canopy above, and I spent many pleasant hours there as the rain and wind whipped across the coastline. Highly recommended, and we will definitely return again.
It was a great house for our once-a-year family get-together. It was clean, nicely equipped and had a wonderful view.
We really like staying at Shell Haven -- we've done it 2 Christmases in a row now. Our favorite thing is the echo-y garage, which is really fun to play music and sing in! We played string quartets in there this year. The house is comfy and we love the big table for meals and games. It was especially nice to not have to launder the linens before leaving -- that helps a LOT on the last day. Thanks for changing that policy!
I am pleased to be the first to review Shell Haven and do so on our last full day here, gazing out at the river, ocean, and a dusting of snow on the hill across the bay. Our stay here has been exceptional, and completely satisfactory for 5 adults, and our two well-behaved Dachshunds. The ground floor has 2 sizable bedrooms, each with its own large bathroom, and the 3rd level has anoth bedroom with sofa/sleeper plus an adjacent bunkbed. The second floor is the large, open, very appealing living area with an expanse of windows, dining room, fine kitchen, and living room with HD TV and a plethora of channels (+Blu-ray player). A third bathroom is on the second floor. The Yachats Ocean Road is just 150' away, with easy access by foot, with attractive homes on the inland side, and spectacular coastline just a few feet away. "The Churn" is just 1/4 mile south on the Ocean Road, and is a do-not-miss. Another fine amenity is the outdoor hot tub in the wooded back yard. It is sheltered by a 4-poster with corregated plastic which allows full outdoor enjoyment without getting rained on. All in all, Shell Haven is an excellent choice for those wishing for a well-appointed, esthetically pleasing, convenient home away that is great for pets. Lots of places to walk. Highly recommended.
