Check-in is @ 4:00 pm and Check-out is @ Noon.
How do I make a reservation?
All reservations must be submitted via this website. Using our easy reservation form you may place a 48 hour hold for your desired dates at the Sweet Home of your choice while you finalize your plans; this hold will be released if you do not complete the reservation and submit your payment for the rental.
How much do I have to pay when I make my reservation?
To book your Sweet Home we require a 50% deposit; we will automatically charge the second 50% on your credit card approximately 45 days prior to your check-in date. If your reservation check-in date is less than a 45 days away we require payment in full.
How old do I need to be to rent a Sweet Home?
The primary registered guest must be at least 26 years of age. The majority of guests must be over 25, or children under adult supervision.
What types of payment do you accept?
For your convenience we accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Disover). You will receive an email confirmation of your reservation, as well as an e-receipt for your secure online payment. To make your payment with two different credit cards, please email or call us and we’d be happy to accommodate your needs. We’re sorry, but we do not take cash or checks.
What is your cancellation policy & do you give refunds?
The total cost of the reservation, less a 10% service charge, is refundable up to 45 days prior to check in.
What is your minimum stay?
We require 2 or more consecutive night rentals in fall/winter/early spring, and a minimum of 3 nights in summer. If fewer nights are available in-between other reservations, we will gladly rent them. During holidays the minimum reservation is 3 or 4 nights, depending on the holiday and how it falls on the calendar that year. Our holidays include: New Year's Eve, Oregon Spring Break, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Do You Collect a Refundable Deposit?
Two weeks prior to your arrival date we will place a $300 refundable hold on your credit card; these funds are not taken out of your account. Like hotels, Sweet Homes does this as insurance in case you incur any additional charges during your stay. Please note that if you book your reservation with a debit card generally the “on hold” funds are not available to you via your debit card until they are released by your bank after your stay. After you check-out, our property manager, cleaners, and laundry team will affirm that everything is fine and your $300 hold will be released. In the unlikely event there is damage, undue messes, missing items, or other problems, we will take photographs and email them to you with the repair or replacement costs. That amount will be deducted from your $300 security deposit, or charged to your card in the rare instance of post-stay charges greater than $300.
How do we get into our rental home?
Two weeks prior to your scheduled arrival we will email you the lock box key code (which is changed after every guest for your security). To check-in to your Sweet Home simply enter the access code into the lock box by the front/main door and you will find your keys. When you leave, please return the keys to the lock box.
How do we get directions to the house?
Two weeks prior to the scheduled date of your arrival we will email you check-in documents and driving directions to your home. Please do not rely on GPS or other electronic systems to find your home; on the coast, these often do not work.
Will our cell phones work at the coast?
Cell phone service is often spotty and unavailable at the coast; it is stronger in some places than others, and it varies depending on your carrier.
Do infants count toward a home’s maximum occupancy?
Children under the age of 2 do not count toward the maximum occupancy.
Will someone meet us at the home when we arrive?
Once you and your party have had a chance to look around a bit, please call or text your property manager who will meet you at the home and provide you with helpful tips to make your stay easier and more comfortable. This face-to-face meeting ensures that anything out of place, damaged or missing after check out will not be attributed to your party, so you will not be charged for any issues with the home that were there prior to your arrival. If your party is not able to check-in to the home before 8:00pm on the day of your arrival, then please just call or text your property manager that evening to schedule an appointment between 9:00am - 10:30am the next morning. Please note that the property manager is authorized to show up unannounced and enter the home if you do not call to coordinate the meeting for the check-in process.
Do you allow pets?
Most of our homes are dog friendly. We love well behaved dogs & they love the beach! There is a flat rate fee of $50 for 1 dog, and $25 for each additional dog guest, up to 3. Unfortunately we do not allow any other animals in the homes.
What is your hot tub policy?
Many of our homes have hot tubs. If your rental home has one, you may opt to have access to it during your stay for a flat fee of $50. This fee covers the cost of cleaning and maintenance before your stay to ensure cleanliness. Guests use hot tubs at their own risk; Sweet Homes is not liable for any hot tub related injuries or illnessness. No one under 18 may use a hot tub without adult supervision; pregnant women and small children should not use the hot tub; no one on medications or consuming alcohol should use the hot tub. Bathers must shower before entering hot tub.
What amenities are in your Sweet Homes?
The following items are generally available in each Sweet Home: a color TV/ DVD, washer/dryer, silverware, dishes/cookware, toaster, pots & pans, a microwave, a coffee maker, basic kitchen utensils, bath towels (not for the beach!), bed linens, blankets or quilts, pillows, garbage containers, stereo, often with CDs and/or IPod dock, gas grill, alarm clocks, movies, books and games, game room, free WiFi and more!
What items do you provided in the house?
Upon arrival our rentals are stocked with some basic "starter" products, including toilet paper, paper towels, tissue, aluminum foil, saran wrap, Ziploc bags, coffee filters, trash bags, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, dishwashing soap, hand soap, spray cooking oil, salt and pepper. If you use what we start you with, you will need to provide your own for the remainder of your stay (large groups of guests or guests with longer stays should plan to bring additional supplies as you see fit).
Can we have a wedding reception or throw a party in at Sweet Home?
Congratulations on your engagement, anniversary, birthday or other special occasion! Though we are very happy for you and we love a good celebration, we do not allow events or parties of any type in any of our homes. We recommend the Haceta Head Lighthouse/Inn, the Overleaf Lodge, or the Bayshore Beach Club Ballroom (if you are renting a Bayshore home) for lovely weddings & other celebrations on the coast. We would be very happy to work with you on home rentals for your family reunion, wedding party, and/or guests, though.
Why are the cleaning fees different in each of your homes?
Each of our homes has a standard cleaning fee, based on the size of the home and how long it typically takes our top notch cleaning team to do everything necessary to prepare the home for the next guests. This fee also covers laundry service when you check-out. We pay and supervise our cleaners well, and they in turn do an outstanding job guaranteeing that your Sweet Home is clean, stocked, and ready for your arrival.
Do we need to do laundry before checking out?
No, at Sweet Homes we wash the linens and towels for you after you leave! We use very special green cleaning products that we make ourselves, and we use special care and handling to ensure that our boutique quality linens and towels stay clean and sanitized.
Can we clean the house ourselves so that we don't have to pay a cleaning fee?
No, I’m sorry we have a staff of professional cleaners to ensure that every Sweet Home is cared for and cleaned thoroughly.
Do you offer special discounts?
Our posted prices are fair and firm, and our nightly rates vary depending on time of year and demand. Sweet Homes does offer discounts for weeklong rentals (from September to June,) and we occasionally offer our Facebook followers and members of mailing list special deals and discounts. Please like us on Facebook, sign-up for our mailing list to ensure that you don’t miss any of our deals and special offers, and email or call us to inquire about last minute specials!
What if we accidentally leave something behind in our Sweet Home?
We are not responsible for lost or forgotten items. If you forget something in your Sweet Home please contact us within two weeks of your departure date and we will do our best to retrieve the item. We do charge a $15 fee, plus shipping to cover the cost of labor, drive time, and packaging. Items not claimed within two weeks will be donated to a local charity.
When is the best time of year to come to the Oregon Coast?
Every month is the perfect time to visit! And we’re not just saying that: it’s really true. The Oregon Coast is a magical, beautiful, spectacular place that is gorgeous when it’s sunny (which can be anytime of the year) and beautiful when it’s damp and stormy. It’s a dramatic place, and each season offers different delights --- both in terms of weather and sea watching, but also in terms of whale season, bird watching, hiking, boating, crab season, clam & mussel digging, the wine fest, the art fests, etc. There’s always something special going on to help make your trip memorable.
What will the weather be like?
Oregon coast weather is variable & changeable. We recommend visiting www.weather.com and/or www.weatherunderground.com to get expert weather trends and forecasts, and NOAA for the most precise and detailed 7 day forecast & up-to-the-minute storm info: http://www.noaa.gov/. And always check your destination forecast for day trips, as it can be raining and 58 degrees in Newport, and sunny and 70 degrees in Yachats. The Oregon Coast is just like that: if you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes or drive 10 miles!
Which airports are closest?
Both Portland and Eugene have major airline hubs (but the former is much larger than the latter). Portland is about a 2.5 hour scenic drive from the central coast; Eugene is less than 2 hours away. For the adventurous or those with their own small planes, there is also a private airport, Newport Municipal.
Is there a grocery store nearby?
Yes, both Waldport and Yachats have great little grocery stores for all your needs! There are also larger stores (like Fred Meyers) in both Florence and Newport.
Can we build a bonfire on the beach?
Sometimes, but build and play safely! Check at the entrance of any public beach--- they post specific rules there. If bonfires are allowed as posted, please be sure that you extinguish your fire with water and then bury any remaining embers before you leave your bonfire. Then clearly mark the area so unsuspecting people and pets don’t accidentally walk into your hot zone. Other things to remember when building beach bonfires: 1) large logs are prohibited; 2) fires must be west of the vegetation line, that’s closer to the ocean than any of the beach grass or drift wood areas higher up near land; and 3) never leave trash of any sort on the beach.
Can I park an RV or boat trailer at the home?
It depends on which house and the size of the vehicle or trailer. If you have a non-standard vehicle, RV, or trailer, just call or email and we'll be glad to assist.
Do you offer travel protection in case we need to cancel our trip?
Yes, you may add travel protection when you place your reservation.
