What to do in Yachats, Oregon

 

Our Sweet Homes are located in and around the artsy town of Yachats, Oregon (pronounced: Ya-hots) and the lovely town of Waldport (pronounced: Wal-port) where the ocean meets the bay.  Though we would understand if you never wandered far from your beautiful house and beach, you may also be interested in exploring some of the wonderful opportunities for ocean views, hikes, play, or great cuisine along the Central Oregon coast. Heceta Head Lighthouse

Heceta Head is one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world. It is the brightest light on the Oregon coast and it is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the United States.

The Queen Anne style Keeper’s House has been restored to its original splendor. It now serves as an Interpretive Center by day, complete with lighthouse tours, and an exquisite Bed and Breakfast by night. The walk to the lighthouse is
easy and beautiful as you wander up through lush forest along the coast to the historical landmark of Haceta Head Lighthouse.

The Oregon Dunes

Just South of Florence you'll find the wind-sculpted sand dunes. Towering to 500 feet above sea level they provide numerous recreational opportunities including off-highway vehicle use, hiking, photography, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding and camping. They're exotic, adventurous and beautiful!

Newport Aquarium

Named one of the top 10 aquariums in the nation by Parade magazine, the Aquarium showcases over 15,000 animals, representing 500 species through indoor and outdoor exhibits including sea otters, seals, sea lions, sharks and an inquisitive octopus.

Cape Perpetua

From a sweet cove beach with blowholes and tide pools at either end, to the steep forested headland towering above, the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area offers ample options for hikers of all ages and energy levels. Worth the walk!
