Todd and Kate are the owners of Sweet Homes Vacation Getaways. After meeting online from two different cities, they had their first date here at the beach in 2007, fell in love, and soon after, bought their beach house, The Sand Castle. (It’s a good story – be sure to ask them about it when you meet them!) After renting their home through another local company for almost a year, they realized that it was often unoccupied and wasn’t bringing in nearly the income that they had anticipated. Todd & Kate concluded that their property wasn’t being managed to their high standards and attention to detail, so they decided to rent and manage it themselves.The result? They increased their bookings and income by 300%.
After seeing Kate & Todd’s success, family members and friends with beach homes asked them to represent their houses too, and before they knew it, Sweet Homes was born in the summer of 2008. Despite the recession they steadily and strategically grew in partnership with owners of beautiful beachfront and ocean view homes. Along the way, Todd & Kate developed an innovative business model to successfully rent their homes year-round at good market rates, bringing in the income that homeowners needed to sustain their investments and keep cherished beach homes within their families. Now, with tens of thousands of happy guests, Sweet Homes enjoys a thriving community of online followers, friends, and loyal renters who return year-after-year.

Speaking of family, Sweet Homes has long-term ties to Yachats. Though Todd was born and raised in Portland, he has spent much of his life in the area and still has family here. His local knowledge, combined with 25+ years of photography, film, directing, advertising, marketing and business experience gives him a unique skill set for Sweet Homes. Kate may be an East coaster by birth, but she’s a West coaster by choice. With a Ph.D. in Sociology, Kate is a professor and Dean at a major university and she has extensive operations, HR, and management experience. The rest of the Sweet Homes team consists of people who together bring many decades of successful experience in a wide range of fields, including hospitality, architecture & design, project management, communications & marketing, real estate, customer service, house cleaning, hot tub care, construction, and home maintenance.
Today, Sweet Homes has brick-and-mortar offices in Yachats and Newport, as well as a warehouse/office complex and the Sud-Sea laundromat in Waldport. You’ll see our company vans zipping up and down Highway 101 delivering laundry, working on home projects, and helping guests, 365 days a year.
