Spring may be the most beautiful time of the year to experience the Oregon coast. In addition to S’mores making, beach walks, and boogie board riding, there’s kite flying, agate hunting, whale watching, and fat tire biking.
The best part of Spring Break is getting a chance to relax and spend time as a family. It’s possible that on the Oregon coast, you may soak in more smiles than you’ve seen all year. To get the most out of your trip, you’ll want to make sure to pack a few things that will ensure you’re comfortable during all your explorations.
Temperatures can range from 40-60 degrees in the Spring, so wearing thin layers of fleece, sweaters, and jackets is always a good idea, so you can take off what you don’t need. Wool socks, gloves, and a cozy hat are also recommended. And because it’s Oregon, rain gear will be needed at some point. That’s how it stays so green!
You’ll want to bring a waterproof jacket with a hood, waterproof pants, shoes, and a hat if you plan to do any hiking and will be outside for an extended period of time. The nice thing about Oregon weather: if you don’t like it, give it 10 minutes and it will probably change!
Other items you might want to add are headphones, chargers, and a little cash. You may come across a food truck that has amazing gochujang tuna tacos made from locally caught fish, and they won’t take debit or credit cards.
Lastly, you’ll want to bring wet suits if you’re dreaming of boogie boarding or surfing on the Central Oregon coast. The Pacific Ocean is cold. Water temperature averages 50 degrees in April.
We have homes where you can make the most of your time together, whether that means sitting down in a cozy living room to play board games or cooking a hearty breakfast to fuel your day. No matter what you’re after, we have homes available to fit your needs, but they’re booking fast, so start planning now!
And what you won’t need to bring if you’re staying at a Sweet Home: hair dryer (each Sweet Home has one), umbrellas (the wind will turn it inside out fairly quickly and they take up quite a bit of room), and towels. If you’re staying with Sweet Homes, you can trust the quality of towels in each bathroom, and order a towel exchange at any time during your stay. Packing your own towels will just take up unnecessary space in your luggage. We’ve got you covered!
