Haunted Central Oregon Coast

Today is Friday the 13th, and Halloween is fast approaching. It’s the perfect time to delve into the realm of ghostly tales and explore the spooky legends along the Central Oregon coast. Here are a few of our favorite tours and sites of purported paranormal activity:

Heceta Head Lighthouse Lightkeeper’s House
Visit Heceta Head Lightstation on October 28th or 29th, 2023 between 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM to experience the history and hear ghostly stories from past B&B guests and staff of the Heceta Head Lightkeeper’s House. Each tour is an intimate 20 to 30-minute rendezvous with the supernatural, and spaces are limited to a mere 15 souls. Advance reservations and a donation of $10 per person are required.

Yaquina Bay Lighthouse
The ghost of Captain Evan McClure who died when his ship foundered in the Devil’s Punchbowl in 1874 is said to haunt this lonely place. Other spirits are purported to roam the lighthouse in Newport, too, but you’ll have to visit and decide for yourself.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse
At 93 feet tall, the Yaquina Head Lighthouse, located in Newport, Oregon, is the state’s tallest lighthouse. It’s been guiding ships for 145 years. One tale tells of a construction worker helping to build the tower who fell to his death. His lifeless form remains trapped between the lighthouse’s dual walls, forever entwined with his spectral presence.

Haunted Taft
Hear of spirits past and ghosts present at the Lincoln City Glass Center. Learn about the mysterious Ghost Schooner of Siletz Bay, an infamous celebrity spirit, bootleggers, and creatures of the night. Experience all this and more during a spine-chilling walking tour of Historic Taft.
